bancroft michigan Posts: 420 | Well, it has certainly been a weird spring, and our rivers are running very low and clear. Yesterday I fished pretty much all day, it was until early afternoon when the sun came out and it warmed up a few degrees that I started to see some hendricksons hatching. It sometime but eventually some fish stared to rise. The hatch lasted a couple of hours, and although not heavy it was enough to keep a few fish looking up. All small brookies, but I made a cast into shady slow bankside spot and got a nice surprise. Next weekend is the general opener here in Michigan, so a few new options. Mike

bancroft michigan Posts: 420 | Adirman, I live in central Michigan and usually fish the sunrise side. We are blessed to have many fine streams big and small in the l.p. The u.p. Also has many fine streams, some are very remote. It’s a 6 hr. Drive just to the bridge from my house, so I would want at least a week to explore. There are many books that have more info on our rivers here, and we have some great fly shops to help visiting anglers out. Hope you can make someday. Mike.

bancroft michigan Posts: 420 | Adirman, a Hennie or Hendrickson may fly, Latin name Ephemerella subvaria is one of the first fly may fly hatches that occurs prior to or very near opening day of trout season in the east and Midwest. A really cool bug that trout love, to eat that is! This is one you really want in your fly box in April and early may. Mike.
