This one flew away before I could photograph it on the ruler, but it would have measured slightly smaller than the male.

Rheotanytarsus Midge LarvaRheotanytarsus Midge Larva View 6 PicturesThis peculiar midge lived in a case tightly fixed to a rock, with several others of its kind. The case seems to be made of tiny grains of sand. I'm not sure what the function is for the little lines sticking out the front, because they aren't legs.

Female Ephemerella (Hendricksons, Sulphurs, PMDs) Mayfly SpinnerFemale Ephemerella (Hendricksons, Sulphurs, PMDs) Mayfly Spinner View 8 PicturesI've seen Ephemerella invaria with green egg sacs and Ephemerella subvaria with yellow one. This one seems too large for dorothea. So what is it? I'm not sure.

Many females of this species were gathered in tight clouds to lay their eggs over the riffles in a mid-sized Pocono stream right at dusk. It would have been a fishable spinner fall if I'd stuck around to wait for them.

Female Leptophlebia (Black Quills and Blue Quills) Mayfly DunFemale Leptophlebia (Black Quills and Blue Quills) Mayfly Dun View 7 PicturesI collected this mayfly after user Al514 tipped me off to the presence of some Leptophlebia mayflies I didn't seem to have yet with his ID request of a male dun. This seems to be of the same species. I also collected a female spinner. Based on that spinner, I can tell that this is either Leptophlebia cupida or Leptophlebia nebulosa, but I can't tell which.

Unfortunately none of the specimens I collected made it through the hot, sunny day very well. So the pictures aren't great, but they're better than nothing.
